The Death Of Simply Splendid!!

Recently I re-read the epic 'Death Of Superman' from DC Comics back in the early 90s for the first time since reading the trade collections at the time. It took some time, was great fun and I thoroughly enjoyed re-visiting such a huge story.

Then I remembered this... Only Mondo could distil the 1600+ page monster of an epic into just two panels. Made me laugh back then... still does now.

'Simply Splendid' was a newspaper style strip that appeared on the editorial page of almost every issue. This one appeared in the March 1994 issue- #20, that also included the comics 'Man XL II' by Lee Davis and Steve Jones, 'Rip Kane II' by Lee Davis, John Maybury & Siobhan Hillman, Part 1 of Fred Fortune: Daze by me, the epilogue of 'Copter Cops' by Matt Banwell and Leonard Noel-White, episode 2 of the 'Darkness' story 'The Vengence of Screw U' by Mark Yarwood and Paul Knight, John Woolley's Massacre Comics continues with 'Power Hat' and Tim James and Chris Doughty provided the 'Negative Man' story 'Reflections in the Dark'. There were also a few articles including Lee Davis and Mark Yarwood's reflection on the life and career of Jack Kirby after his passing in February a month earlier and Lee reviewed the 1993 Superman radio drama.
